Dryer fires peak at an all time high in the month of January: Fire can occur when the lint builds up in the exhaust ducts or in the dryer itself.
The usual outcome of the extra heat building up is a residential or commercial fire due to lint blocking the required air flow.
Dryer Fires Peak At An All Time High In the Month of January
According to the USFA: “2,900 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss.
The leading cause of home clothes dryer fires is failure to clean them (34 percent). More home clothes dryer fires occur in the fall and winter months, peaking in January.”
Keep this in mind: If your lint screen is broken, replace it as soon as possible and do not start a cycle without one. Replace screen too if it is slightly broken.
